According to the Belfast Telegraph One Direction is confirmed for the closing ceremonies of the London Summer Olympics 2012. This is news that 1D fans have been waiting for and have accepted as fact for weeks. The announcement was published on Thursday morning.Belfast Telegraph reports that The Sun newspaper claims the boy band will perform “What Makes You Beautiful” as they circle the athletic track at the Olympic stadium. The Daily Mirror may be the original reporter of this story, according to Skynews. One Direction at the Olympics? The unnamed sources said, “"It's all hush-hush and the boys have been sworn to secrecy." The source added “But they've been at rehearsals and can't wait to do their bit. It will be an unforgettable occasion and they feel privileged to be a part of it."
Of course, knowing that Harry Styles and his new girlfriend Cara, were at the Olympic Village; kind of tipped people off that something was up.
